Happy New year everyone!! Hope everyone had a memorable holiday season and ate a lot!!! 2011 was our busiest year thus far. Kina, Sumire, and I were at eachothers throats throughout the year overwhelmed with the load that we had. But, now looking back on 2011 the only thing that runs through my mind is KANSHA. Thankfulness for all the success and blessings we’ve been blessed with. For my first blog of the year I wanted to give thanks to a special person. Along with our Tutu wahine, he is responsible for molding me and Kina into the Kumu we are today. 2012 marks 5 years that we have been without you. Your love, teachings, and voice, reverberates in our soul and the souls of our haumana and they’re families stronger than ever. Thank you Kumu for continuing to watch over us. I can feel you in every movement I create. WE LOVE YOU


あけましておめでとうございます！！みんなたくさん遊んでたくさん食べたかな？
2011年は今までで1番忙しい年だったなあ。僕とキナとすみれは忙しさのあまり結構言い合いもしちゃったなあ。でも2011年を振り返って色々と考えてみると一言、「感謝」のみです。僕達は本当に幸せな境遇にいることを感謝するべきなんだとつくづく思いました。
今年最初のブログでは、僕達にとってとても特別な人に感謝をしたいと思います。彼のおかげで僕とキナは今の立場にいられるのです。2012年で彼が亡くなってから5年になります。あなたの愛、教えと声が僕達の生徒達とその家族の魂へと今でも大きく大きく響き渡っています。クム、いつも見守ってくれてありがとう！踊りを創る時にいつもクムが側にいるのを感じます。愛するクムジェイジェイへ。

We just want to thank all of those who supported us, mentally, physically, and spiritually in our journey to the Moku O Keawe competition. Words cannot express how blessed we feel to have finally had the chance to share our hula on our homeland, in front of all that we love and respect since childhood. To our Haumana, Kumu Jay Jay and Obaachan was definitely having a party in heaven that night. We would never be teachers without you. You make us who we are. Mommy we did it!! We Love you!! とにかくたくさんの方々に感謝の意を表したいです。精神的にも肉体的にもモクオケアヴェのコンペティションまでの道のりの中、多くの方々に支えられてきました。自分の生まれた場所で幼い頃からお世話になってきた友人や家族の前でフラを分かち合えた事がどんなに僕達にとって大きな事か言葉ではもうあらわせません。クムジェイジェイ、そして祖母たちが天国であの夜はパーティーをしていたに違いありません。ハウマナのみんな、みんながいるから僕達も先生として頑張れるんだからね！やったね！

Finally to crazy summer season is coming to an end. It’s nice to be able to go outside and not sweat like crazy but not sure if I’m ready for the cold.
We had an amazing day at Kihachi in Sagami Ono, Isetan. We got there in the morning, sound checked then prepared for the first show. There was actually reports of a huge Typhoon coming that day so we were a bit worried but everything worked out beautifully. After the lunch show we took a little nap in our dressing room and got ready for the dinner show. OH!!! Forgot the best part. We had the same course menu that the guests had after the first show and WOW!!!!! Talk about amazing food! Sasuga Kihachi da ne=)

なんかやっと涼しくなってきましたね。外に出るだけで汗をかかなくていいのは嬉しいけど、まだ冬にはなってほしくないなあ。
今回はキハチ相模原伊勢丹で楽しい1日を過ごしてきました。朝着いて、サウンドチェックをしてお昼のショーをしたのですが、その日は大きな台風が来ると聞いていたのでみんな来れるか心配だったんだけどみんなきてくれてありがとう！お昼のショーの後は楽屋で昼寝をしたんだ。あ、１番大切な所を忘れていた！お昼のショーの後はみんなと同じコースメニューを食べる事ができたんだ！！！もう最高に美味しかったです！さすがキハチ様＝）
みんなきてくれてありがとうね！楽しかったね！

Aloha Everyone!
Spring has past, the rainy season is gone, and here comes the HEAT! Summers in Japan are a bit rough. But I’d rather take the heat and sweat more than shivering cold any day. Well with it being summer now, the work load gets a bit heavier. So things have been a bit hectic around here, but, on the same note thankful with all our hearts that God has blessed us with this amazing life. One BIG part of recent events is the Moku O Keawe International Festival in Miyazaki. Talk about an amazing experience. The ladies worked harder than ever before. Seeing all the effort everyone put into this competition warmed my heart like never before. We were blessed with awards in each division entered and Overall 2 which allows us to go to the Hawaii competition on our home grounds in Waikoloa. Can’t wait to show our family and friends just how much everyone has grown. Kona here we come!!!!

みんなアロハ！
春も過ぎ梅雨の季節も終わり、気が付くと猛暑！日本の夏はたまに辛いです。でも僕は寒くて震えているより、猛暑の方が我慢できるかな。まあ、夏が到来したから仕事も一気に増え、毎日バタバタしていますが、忙しい事は良い事、そして感謝をしなければいけない事なので僕はとても幸せです。最近のビッグイベントと言えば、宮崎で開催されたフラの大会モクオケアヴェです。最高の経験をする事ができました。生徒全員今までに見た事ないくらい練習をし、コンペのためにたくさんの時間を費やし僕はこれだけでもう感謝感激でした。各部門全て入賞し、ワヒネは総合優勝2位という結果を出したのでハワイのワイコロアで行われる本大会に出場決定しました。みんなの成長・成果を早く家族や友達に見せたいです。コナ待ってろよ！！！！

Oh! One more thing I realized when I went home this time. Did you know that you can see Kaimana Hila ( Diamond Head ) from the airport?!!!! I've lived in Hawaii all my life and never realized that! Am I the only one? ¥(^o^)／

ちなみに今回ハワイへ帰って気が付いた事があるんだけど。。。。。ホノルル空港からカイマナヒラ（ダイアモンドヘッド）が見えるのは知ってた？僕はずうっとハワイに住んでいたのに全く知らなかったよ。もしかして僕だけ？(笑)
